I once walked alone

in circles for three hours,

forgetting your name

and your face became wild daisies

that first I ignored. Because there

were so many. Too many.

And I slowed my pace

and closed my eyes

and forgot how to breathe because

the shushing branches became your

sigh and the broken sticks

I knew, were your teeth.

Sunlight scatters your scent

through my hair, tangling in your turbulent touch

though I confess,

I almost recalled

your name.
